Living in Milton
A place of community
Milton is divided into four municipal wards, each encompassing a collection of neighbourhoods that reflect the town’s diversity, history, and evolving urban landscape. Across the town, there are 24 distinct neighbourhoods, each with its own mix of character, amenities, and housing styles. From the heritage charm of Old Milton to the modern family communities in the Boyne Survey and Ford neighbourhoods, Milton offers a blend of urban convenience and small-town feel.
Some areas are known for their walkability and historic homes, while others feature newer developments with townhouses, detached homes, and condos built for growing families and newcomers. Neighbourhoods like Bronte Meadows, Beaty, and Dempsey are well-established and community-focused, whereas Cobban, Walker, and Milton Heights reflect Milton’s ongoing residential growth and expanding development areas.

Prepared for growth
Milton is preparing for significant residential growth to meet the needs of its rapidly expanding population. The Town’s housing strategy calls for 88,000 new housing units by 2051, averaging 2,930 units per year. This includes 66% low- and medium-density housing, 33% high-density, and a small share in rural or hamlet areas.
To meet these goals, Milton has committed to building 21,000 new homes by 2031 through the provincial Building Faster Fund, exceeding its 2023 target by 27%. Federal support via the Housing Accelerator Fund will fast-tracked more than 800 units in the next three years, contributing to nearly 4,700 homes over the next decade.
Key developments include the Allendale project (at least 400 units) and the Stationside development (612 suites in two high-rise towers), both contributing to Milton’s vision for diverse, sustainable communities. These efforts align with plans to support a projected population of more than 400,000 by 2051.
