On World Environment Day, InvestMilton is proud to highlight local innovation that supports a cleaner, more sustainable community. One shining example is the work of Evolution Data, a local business leading the way in smart waste management through data-driven technology. 

In collaboration with the Town of Milton, Evolution Data has implemented sensor-equipped trash receptacles across key public spaces. These smart sensors monitor waste levels in real-time, helping Town staff optimize collection routes, reduce fuel consumption, and prevent overflow – all contributing to a cleaner environment and more efficient operations. 

This partnership reflects a growing trend happening within Milton and among our local business community. We continue to see companies moving toward green innovations, adopting new technologies to improve efficiencies and creating strategies and products that contribute to significant cost savings while implementing responsible business practices across their facilities and operations. The Town is running this pilot program with a local business to demonstrate how using smart technology to reduce waste and carbon emissions at the municipal level can play a vital role in shaping a more sustainable future.
